Echota Cherokee Ancestor Project.
The following information for Forensic Historians, Genealogists, and Ancestry Research buffs was extracted directly from the Ancestry Projects Page on GEDmatch.com. Kristi Lami is a confirmed DNA member of the group. Kristi Lami is the host of “Are You Related to Morgan Plantagenet?” located in the same free section of their Global Intelligence based Ancestry Platform. Please contact them directly for information about joining. We can only answer questions about our own group. The hosts of their program will have to assist you with any ancestral verifications of your own DNA. If you do match their terms for inclusion, we recommend that you add your own GED kit match number for inclusion in the Ancestry Preservation Project helping to solve cold cases in health and for the medical welfare of all.

A project for those wishing to explore Cherokee ancestry through autosomal DNA. The current Cherokee members of federal and state recognized tribes are admixed with African and European DNA as found by Dr. Eske Willerslev PhD. in Anthropology and Genetics. There is no standard in autosomal DNA that verifies what an Indigenous Cherokee is. Anyone with kits with Gedmatch.com can use their kit to see if the match with the current Echota Cherokee members for the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama, a state recognized tribe in Alabama. Anyone can upload their autosomal DNA from other sources as Ancestry DNA to match their autosomal DNA with the One to Many. I, Joel K. Harris, Sr., and Dawn Ellen Trout are blood relatives. I am a member of a state recognized tribe, Echota Cherokee in Alabama, Ms. Trout is a member of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. George Washington Trout, Ms. Trout’s great Grandfather, from Georgia, is on the Dawes Roll and is a deceased member of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma is identified on his death certificate in Oklahoma as a WHITE man rather than an Indian. A goal is to seek members of other federal and state recognized tribal members to match their kits with the Echota Cherokee tribal members. Goal is to learn to what degree are we, members of federal and state recognized tribes, currently admixed with Europeans, Africans and others. Goal is to promote interest and participation in an area not approved or accepted by federal and state recognized tribal governing bodies. Goal is to prove that autosomal DNA is of greater value with current biological science to verify who is family by blood, DNA, rather than out dated paper birth certificates and out dated rolls due to massive migration and admixture with other ethnic groups as Africans, Latinos AND Europeans. Goals to promote feedback and comments and suggestions on how to improve this project.”
