Guess Where I Am Today

Guess where I am today? Lowes Island in Sterling, Virginia in this latest note and clue set for Forensic Historians, Cryptographers, NASA, and aspiring Time Travelers.

What am I doing this morning where I am?

Mostly snuggling with a sleepy husband while I type quietly on my Smartphone. I am trying my best not to wake him but he’s definitely stirring.

Current Status: Operation Rise and Shine

Waiting for Uber Eats to wake up our Labradoodle Rapunzadoodle The First with our delivery of Gluten Free Baked Goods from Rise Gluten Free Bakery in Sterling, Virginia on this rainy and chilly Saturday Morning in Northern Virginia.

We live and work nearly full time right now in the DC Metro area. Let me be clear. Both of us (my husband and I) absolutely love it here.

Notes for incoming guests looking for comfortable upscale and business travel short term rentals, long term rentals, and or for comfortable hotels?

Choose your preferred flavor: City, Suburb, Country Drive, or Historic.

We prefer Sterling, Ashburn, Brambleton, Reston areas for Real Estate rental or purchase out this direction. I am a car girl who has turned her husband into a Pleasure Driver, and out here… a drive through the country is required to or from the big city.

Closer in to DC to the District of Colombia proper are Alexandria and also the Oxon Hill, Maryland and National Harbor.

Anytime we have business in the city we use our Expedia or book via Airbnb places with great views and comfortable beds in the aforementioned areas.

Why?

Parking, shopping, access to Gluten Free Restaurants or Uber Eats food delivery.

Easy commute in the mornings, less fatigue to stay tucked in at a cute place in or near the District.

Bonus if an indoor heated pool is involved or any kind of outdoor rooftop deck and or a balcony.

Pet Friendly places a plus, but always okay anywhere (noting we travel with a service dog very often and appreciate things like a designated area for dogs to play at a park and ease when we need to take her outside to potty).

Free Parking a bonus but rare in the city. It is always a big plus to have on site hotel parking available or a nearby 24 hour Parking Garage.

Note to folks visiting the District of Colombia by car — DC parking garages often close at times like midnight and if you are late to retrieve it you are not getting your car out or back until they open in the morning. As such, plan accordingly and always expect an additional night of hotel bill in your travel budget should you get stuck. Tis as fun as you make it — but still herein acknowledge not being able to take your own vehicle out of a garage where it has been parked is typically frustrating and can be a real bummer.

At any rate… the perils of commuters.

Bring me to a city, I love it. But miss trees and space. I need city, beach, country, mountain, and desert retreats routinely in my life. i require Islands be visits included in my journeys as well as Eu Family Head centric travel.

Once I am ready to be with my personal Items I want comfortable space and upscale casual places to relax, to spread out, and to make art while my husband has a big kitchen, a place to grill, room for our libraries, and recording studio space for him to write music and to play the pets and I concerts.

Our home office out here “in the sticks” is approximately 20 minutes from the nearest train station that is helpful commuting to and from the city. We plan 1-2 hours commute by train to the city; we also plan 1-4 hours by car while keeping in mind Washington DC has some of the craziest drivers as well as heavy traffic in the world.

Train station stuff to know — Reston is an easy stop. You can get to Union Station, DCA, or BWI from there. IAD is closest to us on a map, however, and it’s easy to get a ride there from LYFT without needing to pay Dulles International Airport parking lot attendants their daily vig.

The new train station in Ashburn is also handy serving the Brambleton Community. Great hospitals and Assisted Living communities are popping up, making it a natural place for Seniors to prefer.

Take a train from Ashburn to DC. Buy an all day hop on hop off trolley ticket. See all the monuments and museums in the Smithsonian Museum circuit for free. Attend free events. Lather Rinse Repeat.

Further North, Bethesda, Rockville, Maryland, and Gaithersburg are lovely inland communities. We like the train to Rockville and cute cozy home communities nearby for investment.

Towards the coast, Annapolis is our preferred Sea Post. Yar. Garsh. Ya know busking Annapolis Harbor and a stay at the Historic Inns of Annapolis is a grand genetic experience as is a visit to the United States Naval Station.

Baltimore Inner Harbor area is still of interest for times when in need of quiet. Two years spent working in the Fishbowl at The Lenore in the old Federal Reserve Building left an indelible mark on my genetics. Time Travel notes Crystal across from Deck R at Mercy Hospital truly warmed this old Pirate heart.

But today, Lowe and Low off Algorithms know…

Where am I?

Always swing Lowes.
