Eyeglasses today! A happy medical diary day entry.
EYEGLASSES TODAY — DRIVING ONCE AGAIN AS SOON AS POSSIBLY TOMORROW
I was going to give up driving for good but today, instead, I had my eye exam with an awesome doc. My eyes are going to need glasses probably for the rest of my life, eye drops daily forever three to four times a day, and my retinal nerves are larger than most people’s but my eye pressure is good, no glaucoma, no cataracts at all, and zero sign of Macular Degeneration. Right eye is worse off than ly left — which has caused my most significant headaches from overstraining working on phone, tablet, and computers. My mother was rendered blind in one eye after cataract surgery and she and I both have astigmatism. My grandmother and birth father struggled with the Macular Degeneration thing and my DNA is at increased risk to develop the condition but didn’t absolutely get it. I am super relieved to find out that non shows using any advanced equipment the optometrist used on me that would have detected it. Eye Drops are for blurry vision in tired eyes. Turns out dehydration in eyes is a real thing… and it comes on in women typically over the age of old enough to still have fun but hot flash enough not to be interested in doing much of anything but sitting home playing Ferangi Housewife. Super relieved finally knowing nothing blinding is wrong. Not caring at age 55 about to turn age 56 who doesn’t like what I look like or who is the kind of person who would make fun of me for having to wear eyeglasses daily to see properly. Had a wonderful day. The appointment w doc went well, people at the two stores I ordered new glasses from were really nice, and two people unsolicited complimented me on my new haircut — which came out quite nice! We brought the Service Dog with today and she was great in the car. I got her a new bed for the back seat and she super loves it. My husband and I also had a yummy gluten free meal from Tatte — Maple Alepo Chicken with Apricots (delicious). He got to try my Pistachio Iced Latte with Rose Cold Foam and Pistachio Dust made with Oatmilk. He liked it as much or more than I do! After we were done, we headed out car shopping. I have an old car that I bought new and do not want to sell. We didn’t find the little car we went to look at (sold), but looking got us talking about what we would like to buy as a second vehicle if I am driving again. We are looking for a tiny fun car for super daily drives around our area, for a van for travel, and for something beefy four wheel with towing capacity to leave for use once we build our vacation properties. I bought land in Arkansas in the mountains on a lake in a resort community that roads will be easy for senior pleasure driving. We looked today at a Jeep that was more like an SUV on a lift. It was cute but I am not ready yet to have to store it. I would like a Hummer or a Hyundai ioniq9 — both electric vehicles are darling. I haven’t looked at cars since X3 suffered the TBI and everyone we thought were our friends didn’t even bother to ask if we needed anything or to send a get well card. Soured me on the entire car community. But I am still a car girl and miss the vehicles. If I can see to drive with transition lenses with ease so I can see street signs, my dashboard, and my map app then I will have more comfort as well as confidence driving. It also means when we go on road trips I can do a bit more pleasure driving. Our next trip is up the coast once again on Pirate Ancestry Travel adventures. I won’t have my transition lenses yet. They will be here in a bit. But I will have new distance lenses only in a clear RayBans frame with me to help me see street signs. I will be able to read captions and change channels on my TVs once again — thankfully. As for the rest of this diary entry… recommending Lens Crafters and Warby Parker.
