Add your data from AncestryDNA or 23andme to GEDmatch to become a Genetic Witness. Help solve cold cases in Law Enforcement and Medical Mysteries. Help children lost to adoption who are seeking connection and health data with interested people.
Ensure your DNA is submitted not only to the GEDmatch site, but also verify your own ancestry chart work by fact checking DNA tied to specific groups located in the free section of the genealogy website titled Ancestry Projects.
If you are reading here, open a new tab to GEDmatch and check to see if your DNA is tied with famous families like the Morgans and the Plantagenet Dynasty. Use the search sort feature in the Ancestry Preservation Projects section to look for your family members.
All you need do is search for Morgan Plantagenet to get to the Are You Related To Morgan Plantagenet. If you are related to Kristi Lami (GEDmatch Kit CN8047146), ask to have your matching kit or kit numbers added.
[At the time of typing this note, superkits are not available for inclusion in Ancestry projects so remember to use solo rather than combined Kit numbers when requesting your Kit or kits be added.]
Note that despite people who don’t understand genetics and math proclaiming emphatically everyone is related, we are not when it comes to health traits as well as to bio character and physical looks. Just like breeding Designer Dogs or animals like horses and cats or dogs to show, some people are truly the pick of the litter for gene stability.
Folks also are beneficiaries of genetic inheritance that simply cannot be stolen or transferred by demand of word or on paper. Have an extra smart or gifted athlete sibling? How about one that’s cantankerous? Have a parent who is tall and another one short? Fruit Fly experiments kids tend to do in elementary or middle school quickly reveal why some folks get the lions share of genetic strength while others inherit a bundle of meh.
Whatever genes we inherited from Ancestry is never the same bits of data in siblings. DNA plus experience craft and refined DNA and like wildlife inherits instinct, so do people.
The more you know about your unique genetic Strand, the less you are likely to socially compete with other people. Focus turns inward.
Strive daily to know yourself and your ancestry. Seek to compete only with yourself to improve.
Let it also be okay and part of your norm to surround yourself at all times with Quality People. Sometimes they may be your close family. Other times a Distant Cousin — a stranger who has likely a streak of similar traits that make wonderful lifelong close or social aquaintence friends.
If your immediate family or a handful of folks you are related to are difficult people but you are not, welcome to the “I got all the Empathy genes in the family apparently…” club. Keep your focus on self development and improving personal health to get past whatever angst or issues they cause.
Be proud of your DNA no matter what. It’s a miracle anyone survived in the wild, let alone came together to mate and create community.
Celebrate your own life as well as ancestral ongoing contributions. And, if you are lucky your DNA Sample will help others separated by wars and Parental Alienation etcetera and or crime victims have closure if your chart is key to linking knowledge and fact-based history together.
